Make it stand out.

This series of photographs began in 2008 when I moved from Ireland to New York City with one suitcase. Inside was a new Nikon D90 digital camera bought with a grant awarded to me from the Northern Ireland Arts Council. Running a film and animation company back in Belfast I had directed and produced multiple films, experimenting with formats and aspect ratios from the flickering near-square of Super8 to the ultra widescreen rectangle of 35mm Anamorphic. I began a kind of photographic diary of my experiences, using still images for the first time, freezing moments instead of capturing movement. I have since moved from using a camera to using a phone and then incorporating AI into my production process, but the motivations for creating the work remain unchanged.
